june 12
sorry there are no new pictures; time has gotten away from me.
the digital camera and i will be heading to hawaii on june 15, and then from there to china on june 20. i will be updating my blog, http://back-to-urumqi.blogspot.com as time and decent internet connections allow. since i am the only one at home who is capable of updating this blog, it's going to be hibernating until i get home. in the meantime, though, feel free to follow my hawaii/urumqi trip blog.
trace and jade are still doing very well. today we got new cement poured in front of the house. they are excited to ride their bikes on it, so much so that it has been ridden on, even though it is wet :). if i remember i will get a picture of their little handprints in the new cement up for your viewing pleasure. maybe even some of the two of them, you never know :). they have also been enjoying the pool and all the dirt and destruction that has been taking place in order to get the new cement poured. needless to say, naps are getting longer as they are finding more and more to do.
until next time...

in the big pool
jade loves jumping in- even the diving board doesn't scare her
whether you can recognize it or not, this is a picture of trace's first jump into the pool. interestingly, he didn't really enjoy it... he didn't want to do it again that day, no matter how much jade told him he did :).
the big pool
fun in the pool
a bathing suit paired with winter boots- what a concept!
baby, the swimming dog
trent doing a flip off the diving board

pooltime
(sorry, i forgot my cable at home, so pictures will have to wait until tomorrow)
fun story: trace and jade love the pool. i asked trace how he liked it, he told me that he likes the big pool a lot better than the little pool :). needless to say, between riding bikes, swimming, jumping on the trampoline and going to and fro from various baseball fields, the children are using lots of energy. today i watched them for a bit (this was between 2 and3 o'clock, and 96 miles had been covered by bike, much swimming had occured, and lots of trampolining had happened earlier in the day). i was told to feed them, so i warmed up some chicken, cut up some cheese, put some cherries in a bowl, poured juice equally into two identical sippy cups and called. they came in, sat down at the little picnic table in front of the tv and said nothing while eating. when jade was done, she got up and went into another room. trace fell off the picnic table backwards. it happens, i figured it was intentional and he'd pick himself up. instead, when i looked at him, he had this glazed expression. next time i looked over, he was fast asleep. jade reentered the scene, sat down on the couch with a book and was out within a minute. they were both worn out :).
i will post the first pictures from the big pool tomorrow. unlike jade (who has no fear) trace was not big into jumping in off the side of the pool (jade goes easily off the diving board). but he obviously really enjoyed being out there. i have a feeling they will spend hours upon hours of every day out there this summer!
